We won’t be locking your phones away, but we hope you’ll put them on Do Not Disturb and put them away for a couple of hours while you take in this sensory experience. Join us for something a little different.
In conjunction with our #DigitalDetox : A Sensory Experience we’re also collecting Summer Toys that will encourage kids to play outside this summer. We’re collecting Jump Ropes, Water Guns, Sidewalk Chalk, Kickballs, etc that will Hey all be donated to a low-income summer program. A portion of the proceeds collected at the door will also be donated.
What: The Digital Detox: A Sensory Experience & Toy Drive
When: Sunday, June, 24, 2018, 5pm – 8pm
Where: Odeon 1335 Story Ave.
Cost: $10 cover at door
Highlights: Stimulate each of the senses with one room dedicated to sight, taste, touch, smell and sound. Each sensory room will have limited space and attendees will sign up for their spot in each room, with each experience lasting about 15 minutes.
Sensory Room Details:
Tasting room: Indulge your palate with the irresistible combination of sweet and savory charcuterie in the Tasting Room. Cheeses ranging from pungent and earthy to tangy and buttery will be paired with complementary nuts, spreads and figs.
Smelling Room: Copper & Kings brand of spirits will facilitate the smelling portion of the event. The brand will present a specially curated drink pours highlighted by the storied favorite, Absinthe.
Touch Room: Here, you’ll engage your hands in a small knitting project led by an instructor.
Hearing Room: In this room you’ll create songs with musician Chris McConnell. He’ll play the melody and you’ll play, strum, or beat to the tune, creating an entirely new song that will play throughout the space. Tunes will range from 50-70’s Jazz, Soul & Funk.
The Seeing Room: This room will feature video loops designed to stimulate your mind. Adult coloring books, pencils and paper will encourage everyone to create together.
